Launched on May 19, 2020, the Community Foundation of Kawartha Lakes invested $136,400 in Round 1 of the ECSF towards local Kawartha Lakes charities and qualified donees supporting populations experiencing heightened vulnerability during the COVID-19 Crisis. This fund was intended to support local charities responding to COVID-19 in partnership with Community Foundations of Canada, United Way Centraide Canada and the Canadian Red Cross. The local effort in Kawartha Lakes, including the United Way for the City of Kawartha Lakes, aimed to support our vulnerable populations disproportionately affected by COVID-19.

The Sculpture Project: Two public artworks will be installed at the Rain Garden in Fenelon Falls, the first project initiated by the Fenelon Arts Committee (FAC). Established in 2018, the FAC is a volunteer committee that identifies opportunities for artists, strategizes on arts initiatives, and works to increase public access and engagement with art in Fenelon Falls.

Canopy Project Kawartha Lakes (CPKL) has established a fund under the administration of the Community Foundation of Kawartha Lakes (CFKL) to increase the urban tree canopy in the settlement areas of the city, while also adding to the understanding of the benefits of a greener and more diverse landscape.

Experience and compassion can prompt a desire to share with those in need and with those willing to listen and learn. As for Deborah Blackmore who grew up in Burnt River, she has navigated her life through its many ups and downs, with great love and support of her dear parents and her three younger sisters.

A group of concerned citizens has taken the lead to create a fund to help patients, families and health-care workers affected by COVID-19 in Bobcaygeon, Ontario and surrounding area; a community among the hardest hit by the virus in the province.
