ABOUT THE COMMUNITY FOUNDATION
The Community Foundation of Kawartha Lakes (CFKL) is a registered charity dedicated to making the Kawartha Lakes stronger by connecting donors with causes that matter so that together, we can achieve positive social benefit and increase the sense of belonging in our communities.
Entering its fifth year of operation, CFKL is poised for growth after a tremendous 2023 shifting from volunteer run to having its first permanent staff. In addition to attracting endowments and facilitating philanthropic partnerships, we manage the complex processes around donations, tax receipting and funds management including disbursement. We believe we play an integral role in a region facing explosive growth! Our current board is energized, talented and committed.
BOARD OF DIRECTORS OPPORTUNITY
Members of our Board represent our community, offering their diverse perspectives and extensive knowledge to ensure the effective governance of the Foundation. We welcome community members who are experienced in the areas of
law,
finance & accounting,
non-profit management,
community development,
strategic planning,
gift planning,
estate planning or fund development.
Board members will work with the Executive Director to steward the following key objectives:
Build a sustainable growing operation
Enhance our position and brand awareness
Enhance the relationships with key stakeholders
Develop diverse revenue streams
Regular monthly meetings take place with an approximate time commitment is 5-6 hours per month. Directors generally volunteer an additional 25 hours throughout the year for training and committee participation, and ideally serve a minimum three (3) year term.
